Madeline Castrey – Soprano

Madeline’s experience as a performer spans across the classical, musical theatre and jazz genres. She has played several juvenile lead roles in West End Musicals including Young Princess Anjuli in The Far Pavilions (Shaftsbury Theatre) Young Eponine and Young Cosette in Les Misérables (Queens Theatre) Veronica – Soloist singer in Evita (Adelphi Theatre) and Young Nala in The Lion King (Lyceum Theatre)

She also has a variety of television credits, including playing the principal role of Lucy in Series 6 of The Basil Brush Show (BBC1/CBBC) as well as performing on Jamie and Anna’s Big Weekend (Nickelodeon) and appearing in television commercials for The Yellow Pages, Sainsbury’s and The Co-op Easter Campaign.

Madeline also played Young Gillian Wearing in the Turner Prize Winner’s short film Family History (Film and Video Umbrella).

Madeline was the first sixteen-year-old admitted onto a degree course at The London College of Music.

She was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s scholarship in her first year graduating in 2016 with a First-Class Honours Degree in Music Performance with Music Technology. Following this, she went on to complete her master’s degree with distinction.

During her studies, Madeline performed in many productions, recitals and master classes including playing the title roles of Orfeo in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice and Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. She was also awarded The John Ireland Prize for Singer of Excellence. In 2016, Madeline performed the roles of The Mad Hatter and The Cheshire Cat in The London College of Music’s production of Will Todd’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Madeline also co-founded The Charisma Girls, a close harmony vocal trio who have been in great demand, having performed at many high-profile venues including the Twickenham Stadium Live Room. This group was formed to support local charities and individual causes, and through the staging of concerts and showcases, they have raised over £50,000. For this fundraising, Charisma was awarded a Surrey Young Superstars Award for Group Funding and Madeline received the prestigious Princess Diana Award for her work.

Most recently she performed in Verdi’s La traviata and Mozart’s Così fan tutte at the prestigious London opera company Opera Holland Park.
